"Photography for me is not looking, it's feeling. If you can't feel what you're looking at, then you're never going to get others to feel anything when they look at your pictures."

-Don McCullin

Old Photos

Welcome to my Photography Site!

Ever since I bought myself a digital camera (Olympus C2100-UZ) in the end of 2001, I kept trying out all the magnificant little gadgets this technological miracle offered... and it had a lot of them to offer with its full manual features. The great thing about a digital camera is its instant feedback, i.e. you can see right away the outcome of your photography. This is a great tool to teach yourself better photgraphy, learning by trial & error proceeding every shot. Photography quickly became a hobby of mine...

Unfortunately, my camera succumbed my hard core demands in early 2004. I have not been able to make the financial investment to buy another camera since. I am looking for an SLR model which is not the cheapest but I like to take nice photos... So hopefully I will soon have another camera to take new impressions with and add them to this site. Stay tuned.

I have started to post samples of my photographic activities on this site. More will be added continuously. You will find mostly sports, nature, and travel photography. All of the pictures on this site are self-taken unless otherwise noted. Please respect my copyrights. If you want to use any of my pictures, send me an e-mail for inquiry. Thanks.

Enjoy the photos, Lilli

Christmas Break 2001/02 & 2002/03. United States of America. Life of a university student. A rough one...:-) (it's really true at certain stages, in fact!) hence, I liked to use breaks from academic life to take off and explore the country and beyond. In 2001 and 2002 I spent Christmas time to explore Arizona and Utah. 2001/02 I trained for 3 weeks with the girls from the Arizona State University Cross Country team and went on adventure road trips to the Great Grand Canyon as well as Mad Las Vegas. Great fun! A few of the photos above originate from that trip. However, the majority comes from yet an even more exciting journey, the "Grand Tour 2002":

During Christmas Break 2002/03 my university roommate Natalia Kodajova (Slovakian swimmer and fellow Arkansas Ladyback) and another business graduate student went on a ten-day-5,000-kilometer-five-National-Parks road trip trespassing eight states in a jeep packed to the roof with food, camping, and hiking gear... an adventure, a real adventure, a real road trip, the Grand Tour 2002! The trip was a very spontaneous decision. We had exactly 9 days to prepare from the "Let's go!" to the actual take-off. Well, those 9 days were enough for Natalia and me to organize something that resembled the preparation for the end of the world. :-)

Our itinerary for the 10-day Grand Tour was the following:
Drive: Fayetteville, AR - Tulsa, OK - Oklahoma City, OK - Amarillo, TX - Albuquerque, NM - Flagstaff, AZ -> Grand Canyon, AZ.
Grand Canyon Hike: Set-off New Year's Day 2003. First Day: Descent to the Colorado River. First Night: Bright Angel Campsite. Second Day: Ascension to campsite half-way up. Second Night: Campsite, temperatures of -6 degrees Celsius. Third Day: Ascension back to the top (Grand Canyon South Rim).
Drive to Colorado River's Horse Shoe Bend (border Arizona/Utah).
Drive to Lake Powell & Glen Canyon National Park (border Arizona/Utah).
Brye Canyon National Park (Utah): Two Days camping out on snow in -9 degrees Celsius and hike through the sandstone pinnacles.
Zion National Park (Utah, close to Nevada): Three days on campsite with campfire. Hiking (the scariest hike I ever went on...).
24-hour drive back from the Utah/Nevada border to Arkansas via Monument Valley Indian Reservation and Four Corners (point that borders the states of Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico).
