Tour DownUnder 2007: Singapore Layover

March 14th, 2007 - On my flight back from Auckland/NZ to Frankfurt/GER I had an 8-hour layover in Singapore which I - of course :) - utilized to step out of teh airport and hop on the next available train to downtown. Singapore is well suited as a first step inside the Southeast Asian culture, being a wealthy enclave with immense multi-cultural influence. You can smell Asia while you still are provided with Western luxury goods and well-maintained facilities. Spending several hours in Singapore and diving into corners of the city/country where I was the only tourist around made my passionate backpacker's heart beat higher. I sooooooo wanted to grab my backpack and take off exploring SOutheast Asia instead of returning to Europe. Well, tough luck...had to come back to prepare for the World Track Championship instead! Damn it....:P I will come back to explore the hard-core way, no worries..... :)
